چکیده

Oxygen packaging in transition metal oxides determines the metal-oxygen hybridization and electronic occupation at orbitals. Strontium vanadate $(\mathrm{SrV}{\mathrm{O}}_{3})$, having a single electron $3d$ orbital, is thought to be simplest example of strongly correlated metallic oxides. Here, we determine effects epitaxial strain on properties $\mathrm{SrV}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ thin films, where metal-oxide sublattice corner connected. Using x-ray absorption linear dichroism $\mathrm{V}\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}{L}_{2,3}$ O $K$ edges, it observed that tensile or compressive change hierarchy orbitals within ${t}_{2g}$ ${e}_{g}$ manifolds. Data show remarkable $2p\ensuremath{-}3d$ hybridization, as well strain-induced reordering $\mathrm{V}\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}3d({t}_{2g},{e}_{g})$ The latter itself accompanied by consequent modulates hybrid ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{*}$ ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}^{*}$ carrier population ions, challenging rigid band picture.

Persistent photoconductivity in strained epitaxial BiFeO3 thin films.

A drastic change in the conductivity of strained BiFeO3 (BFO) films is observed after illuminating them with above-band gap light. This has been termed as persistent photoconductivity. The enhanced conductivity decays exponentially with time. A trapping character of the sub-band levels and their subsequent gradual emptying is proposed as a possible mechanism.

Dislocation Energetics in Epitaxial Strained Islands

We calculate (to rst order in the Burgers vector) the energy of introducing dislocations into Stranski-Krastanow islands having equilibrium shape. These results suggest that misst dislocations of diierent Burgers vector tend to segregate spatially within the islands, which may aaect the mosaic structure of lms formed by island coalescence.

Thickness Dependence of Magnetic and Transport Properties of Chromium Dioxide (CrO2) Strained Epitaxial Thin Films

Chromium dioxide (CrO2) thin films of different thicknesses (120–2600 A) have been grown epitaxially on (100)-oriented TiO2 substrates by the chemical vapor deposition technique. The thicker films, with a Curie temperature of 395 K, exhibit in-plane magnetocrystalline anisotropy with the magnetic easy axis along the -axis direction. At low temperatures, the easy axis is deflected from the towar...
